Two women were injured in Pembroke Sunday night when they were thrown from the all-terrain vehicle they were riding.

The two women were riding a four-wheeler on the shoulder of Garrison Street around 8 p.m. and the driver lost control, according to Georgia State Patrol Post 42 Commander Chris Nease. The ATV went across Harn Street and overturned, throwing off both riders, Nease said.

The passenger, Nina Mutcherson, 44, of Savannah was flown by helicopter to Memorial Health University Medical Center. The State Patrol described her injuries as not life-threatening.

The driver, Nikesha Mixon, 33, of Dublin was injured less severely and not transported to the hospital.

Neither rider was wearing a helmet and alcohol was a factor in the crash, GSP Sgt. Chris Rodewalt said. Charges are pending.

Mixon said at the scene that her passenger “became scared and snatched the handlebars,” causing her to lose control of the ATV, according to the State Patrol report.
