Highway 144 was closed for more than an hour Sunday night while Richmond Hill fire crews extinguished a small fire beneath an Amtrak passenger train.

The fire began due to a buildup of pine straw beneath the train wheels, according to Richmond Hill police on the scene. The train, Amtrak 98, provides passenger service between Miami and New York City.

Highway 144 was closed from about 8 p.m. to 9:10 p.m.
