Take Back event garners 127 pounds of pills

The Pembroke Police Department and the Bryan County Drug Free Coalition recently participated in its second National Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.

On April 30, the two agencies were able to remove drugs from the community, taking in about 127 pounds of prescription pills – a significant increase from the first take-back day Sept. 25, when Bryan County took in about 70 pounds of prescription drugs.

“We are proud of any drugs that are removed from our community and feel that both events were very successful,” William Collins, Bryan County Drug Free Coalition program manager said.
