The suspect in the June 7 robbery of a Richmond Hill Subway is a person of interest in at least five other armed robberies from Chatham County to Orange Park, Fla., according to the Richmond Hill Police Department.The five incidents include robberies of a Subway in Berwick Plaza on Hwy. 17 in Savannah and an El Cheapo on Oglethorpe Avenue in Midway. Police are seeking assistance from the public to bring the suspect in. He has been described as a "preppy-looking" 20- to 30-year-old white male who stands around 6 feet tall. He has repeatedly been seen wearing a baseball cap and deck shoes, like Docksiders. Anyone with any information is asked to notify RHPD Detective Doug Sahlber at 756-5645. Anonymously calls with information may also be made to the department's Crime Tip Line at 459-BUST (2878).

Nuclear plant's safety discussed at meeting

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will discuss the 2017 safety performance of the Hatch Nuclear Power Plant during an open house from 4-6 p.m. April 24 in Room 171 of the Southeastern Technical College, 3001 East First St., Vidalia. The two-unit Hatch plant is located near Baxley, about 20 miles south of Vidalia, and is operated by Southern Nuclear Operating Co. NRC employees responsible for plant inspections, including the resident inspectors based full-time at the site, will be available to discuss its performance.
