A 3rd Infantry Division soldier was killed in a motorcycle acci-dent on Fort Stewart late Sunday night, according to a news release provided by Fort Stewart Public Affairs.
The three-vehicle accident happened at 11:59 p.m. on Highway 119 near the Noncommissioned Officer Academy. The soldier, Pfc. Christian Bush, 22, was an armor tank crewman assigned to the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team.
Fort Stewart Police’s investigation into the accident is ongoing, but initial findings indicate Bush’s northbound motorcycle was struck by a southbound car passing two vehicles — a pickup truck and car. The motorcycle slid under the pickup truck after being struck; both caught fire.
The drivers of the other vehicles, both soldiers, were not injured, according to PAO.
Police said Bush was wearing full protective gear, and he was trained and licensed to operate a motorcycle.
The specialist originally was from Hagerstown, Md. He enlisted in the Army in 2011 and arrived at Fort Stewart in September.
Chaplain support and family assistance have been extended to the soldier’s family.
