A second Richmond Hill home caught fire in less than a week. But unlike lightning that struck a house four days before, officials believe the cause of Sunday’s fire on Steven Street to be electrical in nature.

Richmond Hill Fire Chief Vernon Rushing said crews responded around 2:15 p.m. Sunday to the Steven Street home. They were able to keep the blaze contained and had it extinguished in about 10 minutes, he said.

“There was some damage to the main house, but we were able to keep it mostly in the garage,” he said.

Rushing said some of the five family members that live in the house were home at the time of the fire.

“But no one was injured, and everyone got out all right,” he said. “And we had the Red Cross there to help them get set up for the night.”
