A Richmond Hill man is facing several charges after he went into a gas station Saturday in Effingham County soliciting sex.
Charges against Anthony Norton, 22, include three counts of solicitation of sodomy, assault, two counts of cruelty to children and criminal trespass.
According to David Ehsanipoor with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, Norton approached several females in the Chevron gas station on Hwy. 21 in Rincon and demanded oral sex.
“The man began to unzip his pants in front of one of the victims in front of her 7-year-old daughter,” he said. “At one point, he got into another female’s vehicle in the parking lot and refused to get out.”
The woman ran inside of the store and bystanders helped subdue Norton until deputies arrived to the scene, Ehsanipoor said.
He said Norton told deputies he was high on spice – a synthetic marijuana – and did not know what he was doing.
Norton is being held in the Effingham County Jail without bond.
