Public drunkenness
Dec. 30 – A Massachusetts man was arrested around 3:40 a.m. at the Motel 6 on Hwy. 17 after police responded to a compliant of a “drunk naked man fighting and throwing chairs outside of room 211.” Police found the man wearing no clothes and smelling of alcohol, who told them two women took his belongings and were “headed for Dixie” in a white Volvo. Police also saw a beer on the man’s nightstand in his room. After finding clothes for the man to wear, police also saw a chair lying on the ground next to a car in the parking lot, a drink spilled on the car, and a beer of the same brand found on his nightstand next to the car. The man was then arrested.
Possession of marijuana
Jan. 3 – A Florida man was arrested around 12:40 a.m. on I-95 near mile marker 91 after being pulled over for swerving. Police smelled marijuana coming from his car. Marijuana, two small smoking devices and a marijuana grinder were found in the trunk of the man’s car. The man’s license was suspended for failing to pay traffic fines.

DUI
Dec. 30 – A Pembroke man was arrested around 11:52 p.m. on Bing Street in Pembroke and charged with DUI, fleeing/attempting to elude and officer and suspended license. The man was speeding and when deputies tried to pull him over. The man sped up before pulling over after a mile. When deputies approached the car, the man sped away. Deputies followed the vehicle for 8 miles until the car abruptly made a sharp right turn and both the driver and passenger fled on foot. Both were apprehended soon after, and deputies smelled alcohol on the driver. The driver admitted to being drunk but refused a breath test. The passenger was charged with obstruction of law enforcement.
Burglary
Dec. 30 – An Ellabell woman reported around 11 p.m. that someone broke into her Murcheson Road home, damaging the front door frame and dead bolt lock, and stole a 50 inch plasma TV, worth $2,800.
Dec. 30 – An Ellabell woman reported around 5:30 p.m. that someone broke into a vacant house on Martin Road, punched holes in the walls, spray painted graffiti on the garage walls, smashed a thermostat and smoke detector off a wall, destroyed a bathroom and threw a brick through a window.
Dec. 30 – An Ellabell man reported around 6:30 p.m. that someone broke into his storage shed in Mulberry Park Drive and took tools, worth $1,000 combined.
Jan 1 – An Ellabell man reported around 9 a.m. that someone went into his father’s home on Hwy. 204 and took a jacket, worth $100, about $50 in groceries and $5 cash.
Jan. 2 – A Richmond Hill man told deputies around 7:50 a.m. that someone smashed in the front door and broke into the Zip-In on Hwy. 144 and stole a safe, worth $800, from behind the counter. The safe contained $13,611. Security tapes showed two people, dressed in black and wearing gloves, enter the store and take the safe. Their faces were covered. The video also showed a small black car pass the business several times before the break in.
Entering an auto
Dec. 31 – A Pembroke man told deputies around 9:30 a.m. that someone busted the rear window of his truck, parked in front of his home on Hwy. 204, entered it and stole a digital camera, worth $350.
Larceny
Dec. 31 – An Ellabell woman told deputies around 10:45 a.m. that someone took a gun from her Caudill Road home.
