Assist EMS

Dec. 17 – An officer assisted EMS with a female who was suffering from back pain.

 

Jan. 3 – An officer assisted EMS with a male who was having chest pains. She was transported by EMS.

 

Unruly customer

An officer responded to the Post Office in regards to an unruly customer. Upon arrival the customer was gone. The post master stated the individual was mad because a check wasn’t in the mail.

 

Jan. 9 – An officer advised an unruly customer at Bill’s Dollar Store to leave and not return.

Alarm alert

Dec. 31 - An officer responded to a Burkhalter residence in reference to an alarm going off. Upon arrival, the officer checked and found the residence to be secure.

Nuclear plant's safety discussed at meeting

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will discuss the 2017 safety performance of the Hatch Nuclear Power Plant during an open house from 4-6 p.m. April 24 in Room 171 of the Southeastern Technical College, 3001 East First St., Vidalia. The two-unit Hatch plant is located near Baxley, about 20 miles south of Vidalia, and is operated by Southern Nuclear Operating Co. NRC employees responsible for plant inspections, including the resident inspectors based full-time at the site, will be available to discuss its performance.
