A Pembroke man died Thursday from injuries he sustained Tuesday in a car wreck in Long County.

Georgia State Patrol Waycross Post 22 secretary Donna Dismuke said GSP units responded around 6 p.m. to a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 301. According to a report submitted by Trooper First Class A. Cheney, Pembroke resident Tracy A. Herrin, 35, was driving his 1993 Chevrolet k-1500 pickup toward Ludowici on when, according to witnesses, the truck started to shift erratically on the road.

Newington resident Harold B. Parrish Jr., 42, driving in the opposite direction, was transporting a trailer on a 2002 Freightliner semi truck. Parrish said he saw the pickup heading toward him so he stopped his truck and waited for Herrin to pass. However, Herrin’s vehicle struck the tractor trailer and skidded 143 feet into a ditch, where it flipped over and landed on its left side.
