A fire at Fort Stewart's Diamond Elementary School today caused no injuries and only minor damage, according to a Fort Stewart spokesman.

One report said students and faculty were evacuated, but the official report did not mention that.

Kevin Larson said a fire suppression system extinguished a small fire this morning when a pipe leaked gas into an electrical panel where it ignited. Minor damages are being repaired, he said.

The school remains open and operating on a normal schedule, but parents can choose to pick their children up. The school will be open tomorrow for normal operations.
