The following is from Richmond Hill Police reports:
Criminal trespass
June 10 – An Evergreen Oak Drive resident called police after she found a screen in a back window had been cut, pulled out of the window and left propped against the house. The resident told officers that nothing was missing and that no one had entered the home. Officers saw the screen had a cut that was 6-8 inches long but found no collectible evidence on the window or around the back yard.
DUI
June 12 – Officers responded to a Sterling Creek Drive home, where a man had just run himself over with his own car. Officers found the man lying on the floor by the front door, having trouble breathing and with pain in his back, legs and wrists. The man explained that while arguing with his girlfriend, he tried to block her car with his Chevrolet Camaro so she couldn’t leave. When he tried to park his car behind her vehicle, he said his left leg got caught on the ground. He was unable to free his leg and was pulled from the car, which ripped his shirt and pants. His car subsequently ran over his left leg. However, the man later changed his story and said he got in his car, which was parked in the grass next to his girlfriend’s car, released the emergency brake and let the car roll backwards until it was blocking the girlfriend’s vehicle. He said he got out but the car continued to roll backwards, at which point he was knocked down and his left leg was run over. While the man spoke, officers noticed the strong smell of alcohol. After emergency medical services drew blood to test for the presence of alcohol, the man was released on a DUI citation and transported to St. Joseph’s Candler Hospital in Savannah.

June 12 – A Hinesville man was arrested for DUI around 4:30 a.m. in the Kroger parking lot on Hwy. 144 after officers watched him drive without headlights in addition to pulling into traffic from being parked on the sidewalk beside Hwy. 144, causing a car to swerve in order to avoid a wreck. When asked, the man admitted to having had “two beers” but claimed that had been around “seven o’clock.” The man failed sobriety tests and was taken to the county jail.
DUI
June 12 – A Hinesville man was arrested for his third DUI after officers pulled him following reports of a red Ford truck swerving in and out of its lane on northbound Hwy. 17, occasionally striking the curb and almost hitting the median guardrail. Officer Donnie Crosby said the man seemed very disoriented and was pale and sweating profusely. The man tested negative for the presence of alcohol but admitted to taking Percocet, a narcotic pain reliever, and Soma, a muscle relaxer. Two prior DUI convictions in the last five years were found on the driver when a criminal history search was conducted on his name. He was taken to the county jail.
