crime scene

A man whose body was found Tuesday in an Evans County home near the Evans/Bryan County line was the victim of homicide, according to Georgia Bureau of Investigation reports.

Agents from the GBI’s Statesboro office are investigating the death of Calvin Oglesbee, whose body was found Tuesday in a home at Deloach’s Mobile Home Park on Highway 280 in Daisy.

The death is being considered a homicide, said Cathy Sapp, special agent-in-charge of the Statesboro GBI office. No further information about the case is being released at this time due to the investigation being ongoing, she said.

Evans County Sheriff Randall Tippins was unavailable for comment Wednesday, but Sapp said his office requested GBI assistance Tuesday in investigating the case.

“The investigation is in preliminary stages and is still ongoing,” she said.

An autopsy of Oglesbee’s body is scheduled to be conducted at the GBI medical examiner’s office in Savannah, she said.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Statesboro GBI Office at (912) 871-1121.
