A Bryan County Sheriff’s deputy remained in the hospital Tuesday following a car wreck Friday near Richmond Hill.
According to Bryan County Sheriff Clyde Smith, Deputy Dustin Rushing was in a single-vehicle accident around 8:40 p.m. Friday on Belfast River Road.
“He was on the way to a call in the Daniel Siding area, and he lost control of his vehicle and it turned over,” Smith said Tuesday.
Rushing was airlifted to Memorial University Medical Center, where he remains in serious condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Smith said Rushing was not in a high-speed pursuit, but the direct cause of the accident is still unknown.
“The state patrol worked the wreck and I have not gotten a copy of their report yet,” Smith said.
