The following reports are from the Richmond Hill Police Department:

Possession of marijuana
March 5 — Officers stopped a Midway man just before 11 a.m. on Highway 17 after discovering he was wanted by the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation. After the man was placed under arrest, officers found a bag of marijuana in his pocket.

DUI
March 3 — Officers stopped a Bonaire, Ga., man around 3 a.m. on Highway 144 after he swerved across the fog line several times. The man smelled of alcohol, but he denied having anything to drink. The man failed several field sobriety tests and a breath test also revealed he had been drinking.
March 3 — Officers responded to the Richmond Hill Police Department around 5 a.m. after a man was discovered sleeping in his vehicle. Officers had to bang on the door to get the Savannah man’s attention. He smelled of alcohol and there was also a puddle of urine in the floorboard and the man’s pants were wet. The man said he had been drinking and told officers the police department looked like a good place to “sleep it off.” The man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested.

Public drunkenness
Feb. 21 — Around 2:30 p.m. officers approached a Brooksville, Fla., man near Highway 15 and Interstate 95. The man was holding a sign and asking for donations. Officers smelled alcohol on the man and he had a McDonald’s cup that also smelled like it had alcohol in it. The man refused a breath test and was arrested.

The following reports are from the Bryan County Sheriff’s Department:
DUI
March 2 — Deputies responded to an accident around 4 a.m. on Interstate 16 in North Bryan after a Statesboro man drove through the median and into the ditch. The man was asleep in the driver’s seat when deputies approached him and he smelled of alcohol. The man said he was tired and was taking a nap. The windshield was shattered and the vehicle was damaged but the man told deputies it was old damage. The man admitted to drinking and failed several field sobriety tests.

Theft by taking
March 4 — Deputies responded to Pine Ridge Drive in Ellabell around 7 p.m. after a man reported several items missing from his home. The man told deputies he had hired a man to install wood flooring in his home. He believes this man stole items including gold necklaces, a black onyx ring, silver necklaces, a smart tablet and more.

Assault
March 4 — Deputies responded to Creekside Circle in Ellabell just before 9 p.m. after a man stated he had been assaulted at the Zip-N Store on Highway 204 in Ellabell. He said a man driving a white Dodge Charger came up behind him with bright lights on and then passed him on his motorcycle too closely. Since this had happened several times, the man said he decided to approach him at the store. When he did, the man driving the Charger stuck a gun in his face. Video surveillance showed the two men struggle over the gun and the man driving the Charger leaving.
