Crime reports for July 2

Among the reports recently filed with the Richmond Hill PD was:
June 15 – Around 10:30 p.m., police responded to a call about an unconscious man lying in the parking lot at the Travel Center of America Truck Stop on Hwy. 17. The reporting officer approached the man and awoke him from his sleep. Through slurred speech, the man said he “felt like taking a nap.” The officer noted a strong alcoholic smell as the man spoke and said EMS was en route due to the nature of the call. The man said he understood, but said he was “just drunk.” Police then placed him under arrest.

Nuclear plant's safety discussed at meeting

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will discuss the 2017 safety performance of the Hatch Nuclear Power Plant during an open house from 4-6 p.m. April 24 in Room 171 of the Southeastern Technical College, 3001 East First St., Vidalia. The two-unit Hatch plant is located near Baxley, about 20 miles south of Vidalia, and is operated by Southern Nuclear Operating Co. NRC employees responsible for plant inspections, including the resident inspectors based full-time at the site, will be available to discuss its performance.
