The following reports are from the Bryan County Sheriff’s Department:

Entering auto
Jan. 16 — Just after 9:30 p.m. deputies responded to White Street near Pembroke after a woman reported someone had gone through her vehicle. The woman said she was in her house when her brother said there were two subjects out by her vehicle, and when her son walked outside the two ran. Nothing was taken from the vehicle, but all four doors were opened. The next day, deputies were called to the same residence around 9:30 a.m. after someone tried to remove a stereo power amp from the vehicle.

Theft
Jan. 16 — Shortly before 6 p.m. deputies responded to Aspen Lane in Ellabell after a man reported a game camera missing from his property.

Check fraud
Jan. 16 — Deputies responded to Elm Drive just before 3 p.m. when a woman stated she had received an envelope from a man claiming to be from the postal service. The envelope contained a $2,450 check payable to her. The woman contacted the company listed on the check and was told they had checks stolen and that she should destroy the check.

Open container
Jan. 12 — A Richmond Hill woman was cited around noon for having an open container in her vehicle. Her husband told deputies she was driving erratically and had been drinking before getting in the vehicle. The man said his wife is an alcoholic, and when the woman returned home, she also admitted she was an alcoholic. Deputies made the woman pour out the bottle of vodka.

DUI
Jan. 13 — Deputies responded to Sims Road around 3 p.m. near Pembroke after a Pembroke Police officer stopped a Pembroke woman for weaving on the road. The woman did not smell like alcohol, but was shaky and had a hard time understanding what the deputies were saying to her. The woman had a “large number” of empty medicine bottles labeled as Hydrocodone and Tramadol.

Burglary
Jan. 13 — Deputies responded around 10 p.m. to Cypress Bay Loop in Pembroke after a man reported several items missing from his home including a flat screen television and two rifles. The kitchen window was busted and the rear door was opened. The man’s shed had also been pried open and several tools were missing.
Jan. 14 — Deputies responded around 11 a.m. to Cypress Bay Loop in Pembroke after a man reported his property had been burglarized. The man, who lives in Savannah, said someone had forced their way into his rental property and took a refrigerator and hot water heater.

The following reports are from the Richmond Hill Police Department:

Possession of marijuana
Jan. 18 — Around 11 p.m., officers stopped a Savannah man on Highway 17 because he didn’t have a tag on his car. The vehicle smelled like marijuana and after officers found a partially smoked marijuana cigar in an air vent and residue in the floorboard, he was arrested.
Jan. 28 — Officers stopped a Las Vegas, Nev., man around 7:15 p.m. on Highway 17 after the man ran off the road. While speaking with the man, officers noticed a large crack in his windshield and found a pipe with marijuana in it in the vehicle. The man admitted the marijuana was his and was arrested.

Public drunkenness
Jan. 20 — Shortly after 8 p.m., officers responded to the TA truck stop after someone reported a fight. A Sheboygan, Wis., woman reported a Miami, Fla., man had “amorous intentions” toward her, but he became angry when she refused any contact. Officers found the man to be intoxicated. The man’s breath test showed he had been drinking and he was arrested.

DUI
Jan. 18 — Officers stopped a Richmond Hill man after he ran a stop sign when turning onto Harris Trail Road. The man said he had two drinks earlier in the evening, but he appeared drunk. After failing a field sobriety test, he was arrested.
