Crime reports for Jan. 23

The following reports are from the Bryan County Sheriff’s Department:

DUI
Jan. 1 — Deputies stopped an Allenhurst woman around 1:30 a.m. on Highway 17 in Richmond Hill after she ran off the road twice. The woman smelled of alcohol but told deputies she’d had only one drink but ran off the road because she wasn’t wearing her glasses and couldn’t see very well at night. She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested.
Jan. 8 — An Ellabell man was arrested just after 12:30 a.m. on Wilma Edwards Road after deputies saw him traveling about 20 mph and weaving on the road. He smelled of alcohol and failed a sobriety test.

Possession of cocaine
Jan. 1 — Deputies stopped a Claxton woman around 1:30 a.m. on Bacontown Road in Pembroke for speeding. The woman said she was driving some friends home who’d had too much to drink. Deputies found a baggie of white powder in a passenger’s pocket. The Statesboro man told deputies it was methamphetamine, but the powder tested positive as cocaine. A broken glass pipe was also found under the seat where the man was sitting. The man was arrested and the driver was cited for speeding. Another passenger was arrested for a probation violation.

Burglary
Jan 1 — Deputies responded around 9 a.m. to Joshua Circle in Ellabell after a man reported several items missing from his home including a television, battery charging system, remote charger, an X-Box game system and a Playstation 3. He believes someone may have used a spare key to enter the home.

Reckless driving
Jan. 11 — A Savannah man was arrested in Ellabell near Toni Branch Road after deputies noticed him driving a motorcycle on its back wheel down Highway 280.
