The following reports are from the Bryan County Sheriff’s Department: Theft by taking, Dec. 23 — Deputies responded to Queens Way in Ellabell around noon after a man reported his 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck stolen. The man said he’d loaned it to a former co-worker, but the man never returned it. The man said he can no longer get in touch with the man who borrowed his truck. The truck is white with two-tone silver and red flames on the sides of the truck.

Burglary

Dec. 23 — Deputies responded to Highway 17 just before 9:30 p.m. after a Richmond Hill woman reported her home had been broken into. After returning home, she found her door had been forced open and her 32-inch Westinghouse flat screen television was missing.

Dec. 26 — Deputies responded to Pine Needle Drive in Ellabell just after 4 p.m. when a woman reported a pistol missing from her home. When she returned home, she saw someone had entered her home through the master bedroom window and the sliding glass door was left open.

The following reports are from the Richmond Hill Police Department:

DUI

Dec. 29 — Officers stopped a Richmond Hill man just after midnight on Highway 17 after he was seen swerving. The man smelled of alcohol and his eyes “appeared tired,” officers noted. The man said he only had a couple of beers, but he failed several field sobriety tests.

Jan. 1 — Around 3 a.m., officers stopped an Allenhurst woman after she was seen speeding on Highway 17. The woman smelled of alcohol but told officers she hadn’t been drinking. The woman refused a breath test and was arrested.

Possession of marijuana

Jan. 3 — Officers responded to an accident on Highway 144 near Brisbon Road around 4:30 p.m. Officers could smell marijuana coming from the car and the Richmond Hill woman driving the vehicle admitted to smoking but said there should have been none in the vehicle. A drug dog indicated there were was marijuana in the car, and the female passenger from Pooler admitted to having marijuana. The passenger was arrested.

Public drunkenness

Jan. 1 — Around 3 a.m., a woman at the T/A Truck Stop on Highway 17 told officers a man was in the movie room eating and drinking, which is prohibited. The St. Petersburg, Fla., man had also urinated in the trash can. The man was unsteady on his feet, his eyes were blood shot and he smelled of alcohol. A breath test showed the man had been drinking and he was arrested.

Jan. 4 — Two men fighting in the Denny’s parking lot prompted officers to stop at the restaurant just after 11:30 p.m. A witness said the two men were punching each other, but one of the men, from Savannah, claimed the two were playing around. The other man, from Brunswick, had blood on his hands and said the Savannah man was drunk and angry and he was trying to calm him down. The Savannah man was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. The other man was arrested for disorderly conduct.
