The woman who died early Monday in a five-vehicle accident on I-95 has been identified as Vicki Persons, 62, of McIntosh County, according to GSP Trooper Quincy Melvin

One woman was killed and other people were injured in a five-vehicle accident on I-95 a couple miles south of Midway early Monday.
The crash occurred about 6:30 a.m. It was not clear whether the dense fog in the area at the time contributed to the wreck.
Few details were available from the scene. More reports are expected later.

Seven people were taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, according to Liberty Regional Medical Center EMS Director Robyn Todd. Three are listed in critical condition and had to be extracted from their vehicle. Two victims were able to walk on their own, the others needed emergency personnel assistance. No one was ejected from their vehicles, Todd said.

Nuclear plant's safety discussed at meeting

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will discuss the 2017 safety performance of the Hatch Nuclear Power Plant during an open house from 4-6 p.m. April 24 in Room 171 of the Southeastern Technical College, 3001 East First St., Vidalia. The two-unit Hatch plant is located near Baxley, about 20 miles south of Vidalia, and is operated by Southern Nuclear Operating Co. NRC employees responsible for plant inspections, including the resident inspectors based full-time at the site, will be available to discuss its performance.
