Savannah Technical College will honor former Bryan County Sheriff’s Department deputy Sgt. Michael Larson.
The honor comes when the school’s Peace Officer Academy students graduate Tuesday.
In keeping with tradition, each class selects a fallen officer to honor, said a press release from the school.
This class is named in honor of Larson, a 10-year officer with the department who was killed in the line of duty Dec. 10, 2006.
Graduating students will award com memorative coins cast in Larson’s honor to his wife, Lisa, and to family members at the ceremony.  Another honor to the fallen deputy is the street leading to the sheriff’s department complex in South Bryan, which is named Sgt. Michael Larson Drive.
He was killed in a crash while responding to a call for backup when he swerved to miss a vehicle belonging to John Lynwood Smith of Guyton.
