Herbert Lewis, who allegedly shot a man during a home invasion in Walthourville last year, has been arrested and now faces three charges, including two aggravated assault.
He was arrested without incident in Pembroke Wednesday afternoon during a traffic stop, according to Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Det. Julie Buttress.
The arrest came as a result of a traffic stop. He had been the subject of a manhunt involving Liberty County deputies, U.S. Marshals and other area agencies.
Lewis is accused of breaking into the Guyton Lane home with another man in December and holding the couple at gunpoint, eventually shooting the man, who survived.
Besides the assault charges, Lewis has been charged with burglary. He is being held in the Liberty County Jail. Bond has not been set.
