An accident on westbound I-16 in north Bryan County shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday shut down all lanes of traffic for a while and limited westbound traffic to one lane for several hours.
A Ford F-150 pickup truck hit the back of a tractor-trailer near mile marker 141, according to Bryan County Emergency Services. The driver of the pickup was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be cut out. Traffic in both directions was stopped while a helicopter landed to transport the man to Memorial Hospital.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
