The 15-year-old suspect in the shooting of Andrew Koenigsfeld turned himself into Richmond Hill Police at 6:40 this evening. Charges against the juvenile are pending.

Koenigsfeld, 20, was shot in the head by the juvenile around 3 p.m. Wednesday during an altercation at the Plantation Apartments on Casey Drive in Richmond Hill. The incident forced the nearby middle and high schools to lock down for more than an hour.

Koenigsfeld was taken to Memorial Hospital in Savannah and is in stable condition, according to police.

The middle and high schools, which are located across the street from the apartment complex, were locked down from 3 p.m. to around 4:20 p.m., according to school officials.

Students at Richmond Hill High and Middle schools were released from school about 4:20 this afternoon after being locked down because of an incident across the street, according to school officials.

Bryan County Schools Superintendent John Oliver confirmed that the middle school and high school were locked down at 3 p.m. The incident did not happen on school property.

According to reports, there was a shooting at an apartment complex across the street.
