The Bryan County Comprehensive Plan has been a work in progress for the past year.

The final stage of the plan will happen Thursday at the Planning and Zoning Board meeting, 7 p.m. in the courthouse.

The hearing will allow the public to make any last changes or suggestions to the plan.

The comp plan was created to help the county with future development and land use, with input from residents who made up an advisory committee, members of the community who attended public workshops, local officials and the planning staff of the Coastal Georgia Regional Development Center.

"It has been an exemplary process and it’s been incredible to be involved with Bryan County, Richmond Hill and Pembroke. All communities have put forth an effort that is rare," RDC Planning Director Tricia Reynolds said. "The community’s involvement has also been very consistent, thoughtful and insightful."

Bryan County Commission Chairman Jimmy Burnsed said the three local comp plans and future development maps can all be found on the home page of the Bryan County website at www.bryancountyga.org.

Burnsed said he encourages members of the community to read through the plan and attend the public hearing Thursday.
