Pembroke hosts After Hours

Last week more than 30 business and community leaders gathered at the new J. Dixie Harn Community Center as the City of Pembroke hosted the North Bryan Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) for a Business After Hours.

Mayor Judy Cook gave chamber members and their guests a tour of the new facility and the adjacent pool, locker rooms, Miller Teen Center and park, while other attendees enjoyed networking and refreshments. Door prizes were donated by Busy Bee Barbeque Sauce, the First Bank of Coastal Georgia and Heritage Bank.

According to chamber president Mary Warnell, the NBCC currently has over 70 members and continues to grow each month. The chamber meets monthly for a lunch and learn, networking and member businesses host Business After Hours throughout the year.

The NBCC’s next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16 at noon at the J. Dixie Harn Community Center, 91 Lanier Street in Pembroke. Any business or individual interested in joining the chamber is asked to contact Warnell at 653-2244 or marywarnell@g-net.net.

Membership rates are $75 for businesses with two employee/owners listed or $50 for individuals. Membership applications and other chamber information can be found on the NBCC website at www.bryancounty.org.

If construction starts sometime in 2027 as predicted, the Georgia Department of Transportation’s widening of Interstate 16 to six lanes for the 32.5 miles between the “Statesboro” exit on Georgia Highway 67 and the I-95 interchange could be complete sometime in 2030, according to an “optimistic” GDOT projection.
