A local optometrist was recently nominated as the secretary for the Georgia Optometric Association, the governing body for optometrists in the state.

Dr. Nacondus G. Gamble of The Southeastern Eye Center in Pembroke began her 1-year term as secretary in July during the Georgia Optometric Association’s summer conference.

Gamble is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has been practicing optometry in Georgia for over 14 years. She maintains an active license in both Georgia and South Carolina.

“I take the profession of optometry very seriously and it is my goal to do all I can to support this profession that I love,” Gamble said. “Giving of my spare time to serve as secretary on the GOA Board was a no brainer. This position is my small way of giving back to an organization that gives so much to me and other fellow optometrists.”

Gamble said she is excited about this next chapter in her professional career.

“The role of secretary in the GOA will help me be a small part of the legacy optometry in Georgia, and I intend to work hard to preserve the profession,” she said.
