The Richmond Hill–Midway (GA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. held its Public Chartering Celebration on Friday evening, February 27 at the Richmond Hill City Center, marking a historic milestone for the fraternity and the Coastal Empire community.

The event celebrated the official establishment of the Richmond Hill–Midway Alumni Chapter, the newest alumni chapter in the Southeastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi. The evening brought together fraternity members, elected officials, community leaders, and residents from across Bryan and Liberty counties to recognize the vision, dedication, and service that made the chapter’s chartering possible.

Founded in 1911 at Indiana University, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is an international organization committed to achievement, leadership, mentorship, and service. The Richmond Hill–Midway Alumni Chapter was established to expand those efforts throughout the Coastal Empire by focusing on youth development, community service, and leadership initiatives.

Chapter Polemarch (President) Terry Enoch said the establishment of the Richmond Hill–Midway Alumni Chapter represents a commitment to investing in the future of the community, particularly its young people.

“Our primary focus is on mentoring and developing our youth,” Enoch said. “We want to create positive opportunities and strong role models for young people in Bryan and Liberty counties. Whether it’s mentorship programs, educational support, or community service, we want to be present and make a real difference.”

The chartering ceremony featured welcoming remarks from several dignitaries and community leaders, including representatives from the cities of Richmond Hill, Midway, and Pembroke, as well as the Bryan County NAACP. The program also included special recognitions of long-serving fraternity members and the presentation of medallions and lapel pins to the chapter’s 42 charter members, symbolizing their commitment to building a lasting legacy of service in the region.

Enoch noted that the chapter plans to sponsor youth mentoring initiatives, scholarship efforts, and community outreach programs, as well as volunteer support during emergencies and local community events.

“Most of our activities will center around young people and strengthening our communities,” he said. “We want to partner with local schools, civic organizations, and community leaders to help make this region even stronger.”

The evening was marked by a spirit of brotherhood and celebration as members reflected on the journey to chartering and the work ahead. Organizers described the event as both a celebration of achievement and the beginning of a long-term commitment to service.

“The chartering ceremony was more than a celebration,” Enoch said. “It was the beginning of a legacy. Our goal is to serve with purpose and make a lasting impact in the Coastal Empire.”

The Richmond Hill–Midway Alumni Chapter plans to begin a full calendar of service projects and mentoring programs in the coming months as it continues its mission of “Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor.”
