Name change public hearing cancelled
Bryan County logo

Residents in the Belfast Keller Road area might have received a letter notifying them of a November 9, 2021, public hearing to receive feedback on changing the name of a portion of Belfast Keller Road to Heartwood Avenue. The applicant has rescinded the request for the name change and the public hearing is no longer scheduled, according to a press release from the county.

The public hearing was in response to a road name change application submitted by Raydient Places + Properties. Once an applicant submits the required form, the next step is for Bryan County Community Development to schedule the public hearing for the next available meeting, which in this case was the Pembroke location.

Name changes to county maintained roads require a majority vote of the Bryan County Commission in a public meeting. These changes require broad updates to maps, residential addresses, and emergency services dispatch routes.
