A motorcyclist and his passenger were sent to Memorial Health University Medical Center on May 9 after colliding with a Lincoln Town Car in front of the Richmond Hill Arby’s.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Jason Lewis, both vehicles were travelling south on Hwy. 17 around 9:30 p.m. when Fayetteville resident and Lincoln driver James Rolon, 39, veered into the turning lane in front of Arby’s. Lewis said motorcyclist Joseph Watkins, 21, and Shaila Beal, 17 – both from Hinesville -- were already in the lane.

The accident wedged Watkins and Beal beneath the car, Lewis said.

Beal has since been released from the hospital. Watkins is listed in good condition.

Both parties were cited, Rolon for making an improper lane change and Watkins for not being licensed to operate a motorcycle. The accident is under investigation.
