FORT KNOX, Ky. — After spending a year deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, 103 soldiers with the 233rd Transportation Company have returned to Fort Knox for the last time.

Now, they begin preparations to move to their new home at Fort Stewart.

A welcome home ceremony was held Sunday afternoon for the returning troops, who completed 125 missions and transported more than 124,000 tons of cargo. A statement from the Army says soldiers from the 233rd Transportation Company also earned 22 Bronze Star medals during their deployment.

The Army says the unit is expected to complete its relocation to Fort Stewart by Oct. 16.
