After two membership drives, the Marne Community and Spouses Club held its first luncheon recently at the Richmond Hill City Center.

Savannah Dan was the guest speaker and gave a presentation on Savannah.

The club’s next luncheon will be Oct. 13 at Club Stewart. The group will observe breast-cancer awareness with a guest speaker and silent auction that includes bags to be given to women who have been affected by breast cancer and treated at Winn Army Community Hospital. Each bag is $8, will go to survivors and will be filled with items from the mammography clinic at Winn Hospital. The group hopes to be able to donate 50 bags to survivors on Fort Stewart.

MCSC will conduct its annual basket auction at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Richmond Hill City Center. The event will feature a low-country shrimp boil and fried-chicken buffet dinner with live and silent auctions. The event will raise money for the Marne Community.

Each year, MCSC donates thousands of dollars to community outreach, academic scholarships and welfare grants. Last year, the club donated a record-high $35,000 to students and community welfare needs.

Tickets can be purchased by emailing Cassie Ivey at 1VP@MarneCommunityClub.com.

Donations to the auction include a wide range of items from diamonds to a Yeti cooler.

Activities will include dinner, door prizes, silent auction, live auction, live music and a cash bar.
