Guard honors Richmond Hill woman

Pamela B. Patterson of Richmond Hill has received the National Guard Family Readiness and Support Award for her support to the foundation in fiscal year 2011-12.
During that time, her volunteer work led to increasing annual contributions to the Georgia Family Readiness Foundation.
The foundation assists Georgia guardsmen and their families through financial grants and no-interest loans.
Her efforts also assisted World War II veterans with round-trip transportation to Washington, D.C., to the World War II Memorial.
Patterson is the spouse of Chief Master Sergeant Roy Patterson of the 165th Airlift Wing. 

Harris graduates from Navy basic
Seaman Nicolas A. Harris recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.
Harris is a 2008 graduate of Richmond Hill High School.
During the eight-week program, Harris completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety.
An emphasis also was placed on physical fitness.
