A 3rd Infantry Division soldier was found dead on Fort Stewart Tuesday.
Maj. Paul A. Egli, 54, of Thompson Station, Tenn., was found unresponsive by Fort Stewart police and emergency medical services at building 9727 after a 911 call, Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson said. The Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the death.
"A military police officer, Maj. Egli joined the Army in December 1981 and arrived at Fort Stewart in August 2009," Larson said. "He deployed once with the 3rd ID and participated in August's retirement ceremony. Our thoughts and prayers are with Maj. Egli's family."
