Maj. Gen. Ricky Lynch has been nominated for appointment to the rank of Lt. Gen. and assignment as Commanding General, III Corps and Fort Hood, Fort Hood, Texas.
Lynch took command of the 3d Infantry Division, Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield June 13, 2006. He is currently serving as commanding general, 3rd Infantry Division/Multi-National Division - Center, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Baghdad, Iraq. He is expected to return home from Iraq sometime next week.
Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Cucolo III, Chief of Public Affairs, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C., will take command of the 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia later this summer.
