Construction of a new Zaxby’s restaurant in Richmond Hill could begin soon after Richmond Hill City Council members approved a site plan and building elevations at Tuesday’s council meeting.

No time frame for work was discussed at the meeting. Planning and Zoning Coordinator Steve Scholar said the project should begin soon.

Council member Russ Carpenter said he looks forward to adding a Zaxby’s to the list of restaurants in Richmond Hill.

“I could not be more excited about a Zaxby’s coming to Richmond Hill,” he said Thursday. “I love Zaxby’s and last year for my birthday, a group of friends gave me a whole case of Zax Sauce. I will be the first customer in line.”

Founded in Statesboro, the  chain’s latest addition twill be located at 70 Exchange Street off of Ford Avenue.

Council members also approved a request from Kern-Coleman to subdivide the lot so a Verizon Wireless store can be built next to Zaxby’s.
