Teens injured in four-wheeler crash

Two teenage girls suffered injuries in a four-wheeler crash Monday in Ellabell that resulted in transportation to aSavannahtrauma center.

The teens, ages 12 and 14, were riding together on a four-wheeler, traveling west onEldora Roadas they returned home from a trip to the store around 4:15 p.m., Georgia State Trooper 1stClass Jamie Holloway said.

They were going too fast, and as they turned into a private gravel driveway, the one driving lost control and struck a tree.

Both girls were ejected, he said. Neither was wearing a helmet.

They both suffered road rash, leg injuries, and the elder girl suffered internal injuries. Emergency radio broadcasts from first responders at the scene also reported one girl was unconscious at the time, and the other suffered a hematoma to the head.

The 14-year-old was airlifted toMemorialUniversityMedicalCenter, while the other girl was taken to that hospital byBullochCountyEMS, Holloway said.
