State awards contract for road work

ATLANTA — Sen. Ben Watson, R-Savannah, announced two Georgia Department of Transportation contracts, worth more than $1.8 million, for projects to address bridge rehabilitation, signing and pavement upgrades in Bryan County.

These projects were advertised in May, bids were received on June 16, and contracts were awarded on June 30.

"GDOT has been working hard over the past several months to improve safety and road conditions across our state," Watson said. "These projects are example of that and I am thankful for GDOT’s dedication to ensuring our infrastructure remains up to code and as safe as possible for our citizens. I look forward to the completion of these projects and more in the future."

The first project in will address bridge rehabilitation at 17 locations across GDOT District 5, including one in Bryan County. The second project will upgrade signing and pavement across 45 locations in Bryan County. The anticipated completion date for these projects is Aug. 31.
