Kathy Platt of Richmond Hill is the second of two winners in the Bryan County News reader survey.

Platt received a $100 Visa gift card after being chosen at random from among those who responded to the online survey. Vicki Bacon of Pembroke was the first winner, announced in mid-December.

Platt said she follows the Bryan County News online and also subscribes to the print edition.

“I grew up reading newspapers,” she said. “I like actually holding a physical copy of the paper and having a cup of coffee.”

Platt said she also receives updates via the Bryan County News Facebook feed.

“It’s a great way to keep up what’s happening locally,” she said.

Kathy and her husband, John, have four children ages 14 to 20.

“All of the kids at one time or another have been in the paper, between honor rolls, rec sports photos and so on,” John said.

The survey asked readers to rate the newspaper based on several areas, including the quality of coverage and graphics, as well as satisfaction with how well issues are covered.
