The Savannah Bank will be rebranded South State Bank this summer, a move toward regionalism one senior vice president said should make banking more convenient for customers who travel.
“They’ll put the signs up in July,” said Jimmy Burnsed, senior vice president of the soon-to-be South State Bank. “And that will give customers who are traveling through various communities the opportunity to do their banking whenever and where ever they see the South State Bank sign.”
The change in name was announced Monday by South Carolina-based First Financial Holdings, which includes both The Savannah Bank and South Carolina Bank and Trust.
South Carolina Bank and Trust bought Savannah Bancorp, the parent company of The Savannah Bank and Bryan Bank and Trust, in 2012. Then in early 2013, Bryan Bank and Trust, of which Burnsed was a former CEO, was renamed The Savannah Bank.
