It appears there will be runoffs in both parties in the race for the District 1 Congressional seat.

Richmond Hill real estate broker Amy Tavio was the top vote getter in Tuesday's Democratic primary, garnering 33.94 percent of the vote. She will face Savannah's Brian Reese in the July 22 runoff. Tavio outpolled Reese 6,141 to 6,120. Savannah's Marc Anthony Smith was third with 5,830 votes.

On the Republican side, state Sen.Buddy Carter and Dr. Bob Johnson will square off after the two finished atop a crowded field. Carter was first with 18,959 votes while Johnson was second with 11,885 votes.
