Richmond Hill votes yes on annexation of Commerce Centre

Members of the Richmond Hill City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to accept a petition from TerraPointe to annex some 2,000 acres of the Belfast Commerce Centre into the city.
The long-anticipated annexation still has to be approved by county, state and federal officials but is expected to be signed off on by September. And though council member Russ Carpenter called it the biggest vote he’d taken in his time in office, the vote itself was low-key and matter-of-fact — just one more agenda item to be taken care of.
“I think my stance on it is it’s still not a done deal,” said Mayor Harold Fowler, afterward. “It’s still hard to say we’ve got it. We’re kind of waiting now.”
