Despite thunderstorms that drenched the area Saturday, hundreds of people gathered in J.F. Gregory Park before the rain set in to help Richmond Hill celebrate half a century of success.
People enjoyed free hot dogs and birthday cake, as well as military equipment displays, kids activities, family fishing and a citywide garage sale. Though the rain ended Saturday's event early, the city has more celebration in store.
Another picnnic is scheduled for this Saturday in J.F. Gregory Park that will include many of the same activities, as well as music, food and fireworks.
