Fort Stewart 1 Lt. Daniel Wynn was on his way to Winn Army Hospital on Fort Stewart when his wife, Corina Wynn, gave birth to a baby boy they named David on the side of Leroy Coffer Highway in Liberty County, about half a mile from North Coastal Highway.

Daniel Wynn said they were trying to beat the clock as his wife's contractions came closer and closer together. The couple had to stop on the side of a dark road and deliver the baby.

"Oh my God, I'm taken aback and shaken by what just happened," said Daniel Wynn from the hospital as he joined his wife and son, who weighed in at 7 lbs and is 20 inches.

The couple lives in Richmond Hill.
