Congressman Earl L. "Buddy" Carter recently announced his nominations from Bryan County to the United States service academies.
"A great privilege of serving in the United States House of Representatives is the opportunity to nominate outstanding students from the First District to be considered for appointment to our nation's Service Academies," Carter said. "The First District of Georgia has a rich military heritage and I believe each of the outstanding students are good candidates to support and continue this tradition. I wish each of them the best of luck and I look forward to following their future endeavors."
Carter nominated 17 students from Georgia's First District to be considered for appointment to an academy. After a competitive process including the consideration by the First District Academy Selection Board, each academy will now evaluate each individual for possible admission.
The students Carter nominated from Bryan County are;
Austin Neal of Richmond Hill has been nominated to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy by Congressman Carter. Neal currently attends the New Mexico Military Institute and is a graduate of Richmond Hill High School. Neal is the son of Allen and Marleny Neal.
Matthew Jones of Richmond Hill has been nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy by Congressman Carter. Jones currently attends Richmond Hill High School and is the son of Barry and Patty Jones.
Andrew Korn of Richmond Hill has been nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy by Congressman Carter. Korn currently attends Richmond Hill High School
