The Coastal Regional Commission held a ribbon cutting June 12 at its new facility in Darien.
The building was dedicated to the Coastal Georgia cities and counties served by the CRC, which moved from its office in Brunswick.
The Coastal Regional Commission is a multi-county planning and development agency serving the 10 counties and 35 cities along Coastal Georgia. Areas of expertise include comprehensive planning, land-use development, historic preservation, aging services, business retention and development, global economics, grant writing and administration, coordinated transportation, technology, geographic-information systems, and disaster-mitigation planning.
Participating in the ceremony were CRC Vice Chairman and Hinesville Mayor Jim Thomas; Sen. William Ligon, R-St. Simons Island; Superior Court Judge Roger Lane; CRC Chairman Walter Gibson; Rep. Jan Tankersley, R-Brooklet; and Jason Coley, CRC secretary and chairman of the Mclntosh County Industrial Development Authority.
“This new facility will help the CRC further its mission by providing a greater level of service to all of the people who live, work, and play in Coastal Georgia,” Executive Director Allen Burns said. “Anyone who was unable to attend the ceremony is welcome to stop by our facility any time for a tour.”
