$10k in counterfeit items siezed in search
Shoes
Richmond Hill and Chatham County law enforcement officials seized items such as these shoes and more believed to be counterfeit from Urban World Clothing in Richmond Hill. (Provided)

A Richmond Hill clothing store was shut down today following a search warrant conducted by the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT) and Richmond Hill Police Department (RHPD).

After receiving complaints of criminal activity at Urban World Clothing at 2552 Hwy. 17, an undercover investigation found that items believed to be certain trademark brands were in fact counterfeit.

During today’s search, all suspected counterfeit items were seized. Because of the large number of items, officers had to utilize a RHPD trailer to transport the items to a secured undisclosed location, where the items will be held as evidence.

Some of the counterfeit items seized were Nike, Nike Jordan shoes, Polo, Baby Phat, Coogi, Sean John and Roca Wear brands. Officers believe items seized to have an estimated street value of more than $10,000.

No arrests were made today, though arrests are expected to be made in this case.
