The Black Hawk Patrol from Troop 141 headed to summer camp June 15 for a week at Camp Frank G. Lumpkin in LaGrange, Georgia and met 18 other troops from Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Troop 141 came home with numerous honors, including three scoutmaster awards, four out of five campsite inspection awards, best gateway award, and the honor troop award, which is considered to be the hardest award to achieve. These were accomplished by four adults and seven boys from Pembroke, a group beat out all others, many of which had 15-30 Scouts in addition to their leaders. The Scouts also participated in boating, fishing and shooting activities and engaged in numerous competitions. Pembroke Christian Church and American Legion Post 164 sponsored the local troop.
