While eight candidates originally qualified for the municipal election in Pembroke, voters will now see only seven names on ballots in November.
Randall Faircloth, who qualified for the council member at-large seat, withdrew his name from the race Sept. 7, according to Pembroke City Clerk Betty Hill. Two candidates remain in the running for that seat and include District 2 council memeber Doug Kangeter and previous council member Ernest Hamilton.
Other candidates for the Pembroke City Council include political newcomers Mary Warnell, who seeks the mayoral seat, and Kim Mcghee, who seeks the District 2 seat.
Council members Tiffany Walraven, Dianne Moore and Johnnie Miller are all seeking re-election to their respective seats.
In Richmond Hill, Post 3 council member Jimmy Hires is being challenged by John Fesperman, and Post 4 council member Marilyn Hodges is being challenged by Jan Bass.
