Three Bryan County schools were recently named as Title 1 distinguished schools by State School Superintendent John D. Barge.
Bryan County Middle, Bryan County Elementary and Lanier Primary School, the county’s only three Title 1 schools, were selected along with more than 800 other schools in Georgia.
Debbie Hamm, BCMS principal, said she was happy to be recognized. She also praised the hard work of students and teachers to achieve this honor.
“I am ecstatic that we have once again been honored and recognized as a Title 1 distinguished school which means that we have made AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) four years in a row,” Hamm said. “We have worked very hard and long to achieve this. I am very proud of our students and our teachers’ efforts.”
Bryan County School Superintendent John Oliver said he, too, was glad to learn of the recognition.
“We are very pleased with all three of our Title 1 schools being designated as distinguished,” Oliver said.
